10 Little Dinosaurs
A board book that does exactly what it sets out to do: walk toddlers through counting from one to ten with catchy, sing-along text and cheerful dinosaur illustrations by Lisa and Damien Barlow. The lift-the-flap elements give little hands something to do and keep the engagement active. Kirkus reviewed it in July 2018 and called it 'a lovely, simple lift-the-flap book that will stand the test of many a mighty tot,' which is about the right level of praise for a counting board book β genuinely solid for what it is, not pretending to be more. The format is sturdy enough for enthusiastic infant handling. Outgrown quickly as children develop, and the text is entirely formulaic. But for a one- to four-year-old just learning to count, it is bright, fun, and well-made.
