This continues James and Mary's story in famine-era Ireland with real feeling for the place and the hardship of the time. It's very much a middle chapter though — you'll want Book 1 in hand first, and the details I could find were pretty thin beyond the setup. A decent pick if you're already following the McGrother family, not the place to start.
