Unique and her mother Lorain are both trying to actually live their faith instead of performing it, and that journey gets tested hard when Unique is jailed on murder charges. It's a big, dramatic hook for a soap-opera-style series opener, but the plot device is a stretch and I couldn't verify enough of the finer details to call it a must-read.
