Karma Wilson's Bear Says Thanks is one of the stronger entries in her Bear Books series, and it earns its place on the gratitude shelf without being preachy about it. Bear wants to host a feast but has nothing to offer — so his forest friends show up one by one, each bringing something to share, and Bear responds with heartfelt thanks at every turn. Jane Chapman's warm, lush illustrations make every spread feel cozy, and the rhyming text practically reads itself aloud. The repeated refrain invites kids to chime in, which works beautifully in storytime settings. The honest caveat is that the structure is familiar if you've read earlier Bear books. Still, for teaching gratitude and generosity to the 2–6 crowd, this delivers exactly what it promises.
