Bundling The Henna Artist and The Cactus together makes excellent sense: both are Reese Witherspoon picks, both center women remaking their lives, and both received the kind of serious debut attention that signals genuine craft rather than marketing. The mature themes in The Henna Artist — domestic violence, abortion, miscarriage — mean this is firmly adult territory, but readers who want rich, character-driven women's fiction get two strong novels at once.
