The curse-as-mental-illness metaphor at the heart of Broken Branches is a genuinely interesting idea, and the 1960s British rural atmosphere sounds well rendered by at least one reader. But this is a self-published horror novel from 2005 with predictable twists, underwhelming suspense, and almost no critical visibility beyond a handful of reader reviews. Horror readers have much better-documented options before they need to reach for this one.
