Caring for Your Baby and Young Child

Steven P. Shelov Β· 1998
91/100
πŸ‘ Worth It

This is the American Academy of Pediatrics' flagship parenting reference, and for the 1998 edition in which it appears here, that pedigree still carries weight. Developed with more than seventy-five medical contributors, it covers developmental milestones from birth to age five, a comprehensive health encyclopedia, safety guidance for home and car, and family issues from sibling rivalry to adoption. It is the kind of book pediatricians hand to new parents for a reason β€” broad, authoritative, and practically organized. The honest caveat is significant: the 1998 edition is now nearly thirty years old, and medical guidance has evolved meaningfully since then. Current editions of this title should be strongly preferred for any active clinical questions. As a reference on the shelf, however, it remains a monument of pediatric parenting literature. No content concerns whatsoever.
