👍 Worth It

The third Mortal Instruments novel brings Clary and Jace to Idris — Shadowhunter homeland — as Valentine raises a demon army and family secrets reach their climax. For fans who have followed the series, this delivers: the pacing is relentless, the found-family dynamics earn genuine emotional payoff, and long-running questions about Clary's heritage finally get answered. It is a satisfying conclusion to the original arc, and the devoted readership it has built speaks to that. This review does need to be clear about content, though: the book contains frequent graphic violence, passionate romantic content, themes of child abuse and sexual assault recounted in the narrative, a significant incest-adjacent plot twist, and same-sex relationships. Plugged In flags significant concerns. Parents of teens should read ahead before handing this to younger readers.
