Defiant Queen
Defiant Queen is the second book in Meghan March's Mount Trilogy, and it delivers exactly what fans of dark erotic romance come to this series for: escalating tension between Keira Kilgore and criminal overlord Lachlan Mount, a charged enemies-to-lovers dynamic, and a moody New Orleans criminal underworld as backdrop. The pacing is fast, the chemistry is electric for the target audience, and the cliffhanger ending does its job of propelling readers into the final book. That said, this review has to be honest: the content is explicitly adult β graphic sexual scenes, BDSM themes, and coercion framed romantically β and it is not appropriate for younger readers, faith readers seeking clean fiction, or anyone who finds consent dynamics in dark romance uncomfortable. This one is squarely for adults who already know what the subgenre delivers and want more of it.
