Don Quixote
Miguel Cervantes Β· 2020
π Narrated by Full cast: Kayvan Novak, Josh Cohen, Alistair Petrie, and Richard Hughes
The original tilting-at-windmills story is still funny, tender, and surprisingly moving nearly 400 years later, and this modern Rutherford translation reads beautifully. It's mostly comic violence and mild bawdiness rather than anything heavier, so it's an easy recommend content-wise β the real commitment is the 35-40 hour runtime. The full cast does a great job keeping Quixote's grandiosity and Sancho's earthy common sense clearly distinct.
β¦ Penny’s Take β this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read β not a page-by-page personal one. The gold β Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
π Narration: good Multi-voice Penguin Audio cast helps distinguish Quixote's grandiose speech from Sancho's earthy replies.
