Gary Dessler is a credentialed and prolific HRM author and this 1999 condensed text served its purpose for leaner courses at the time. But employment law, HR technology, and workforce practice have changed dramatically since 1999, and with no updated editions identified, recommending this as a study tool in 2026 would do students a disservice. There are current Dessler editions and better-updated HRM texts that should take its place.
