Mackay wrote this in 1841 and it still gets cited in investment books today — that kind of staying power tells you something. The South Sea Bubble and Tulip Mania chapters remain vivid and genuinely instructive about how crowd psychology overwhelms individual judgment, and that lesson has never gone out of fashion. Just know that some of the historical specifics have been revised by later scholars, and the Victorian prose takes a little patience.
