Rescher makes a genuinely sharp argument that fairness is about proportional claims, not equality, and he cuts through real confusion in both economics and political theory. The trouble is that the book deliberately sidesteps structural and systemic dimensions of justice, leaving the analysis feeling airless and incomplete compared to what Rawls and his successors have built. Worth it only if you are already working in analytic political philosophy and need a crisp conceptual foil.
