Five Go Adventuring Again

The second Famous Five adventure hits the formula Blyton would use across 21 more books, and it works. Julian, Dick, Anne, George, and Timmy spend Christmas at Kirrin Cottage, discover a secret map, and unmask a villainous tutor — all with the bright-eyed energy that made this series beloved for generations. Timmy the dog earns his place in every scene. Two honest caveats: the villain's identity is telegraphed too early, and period attitudes around class and gender can feel dated enough to merit a brief parental word. But the child-led detection is genuinely engaging, and the sense of friendship and sibling loyalty is warm and real. A fine entry point for young mystery readers.
