Getting Things Done

David Allen · 2019
88/100
👍 Worth It

David Allen's GTD system rests on one deeply practical insight: your brain is for having ideas, not holding them. The methodology — capturing everything into a trusted external system, clarifying next actions, and reviewing regularly — has generated a global following since 2001, and the 2015 revised edition wisely stripped out software-specific references to let the principles stand on their own. Time magazine called it the self-help business book of its time, and a decade's worth of cognitive science has since validated the core premise. The honest caveat is that full GTD implementation is genuinely complex and many readers adopt pieces rather than the whole system — which is fine, but the book doesn't make partial adoption easy. Secular in framing, but entirely compatible with Christian stewardship values around time and responsibility.
