Cameron Dokey found a genuinely inventive angle on Rapunzel: make the protagonist the one born without hair, rejected by her own mother for lacking the very thing that defines the fairy tale. That inversion drives a thematic exploration of inner beauty and unconditional love that earns its emotional payoff. It's brief and a few plot threads go underdeveloped, but for young adult readers who love fairy tale retellings this is one of the more thoughtful entries in the Once Upon a Time series.
