This one's the real deal -- it actually won the Historical Romantic Novel of the Year Award, and the 18th-century Highland setting feels properly lived-in rather than window dressing. Brice and Marsaili's story has genuine stakes (financial ruin, personal betrayal) instead of just running through romance-trope motions. Angela Darcy's narration didn't come with any complaints, so this is an easy one to recommend even though it's book two of a trilogy.
