Suzanne Olson earned the Wall Street Journal recognition by doing something most personal finance books don't bother to do: she treats financial anxiety as a real obstacle rather than a character flaw, and the humor lands because it's in service of lowering those barriers rather than deflecting from them. McGraw-Hill backing and practical worksheets give it substance to go with the wit. It won't replace a comprehensive financial plan, but for reluctant starters it's a more honest on-ramp than most alternatives.
