Gilmer's 1977 textbook was genuinely important in its era and still tells you something about how I/O psychology understood itself at a pivotal moment in the field's development. But nearly fifty years of research have superseded nearly every chapter, and readers today will find far more accurate and useful accounts in any current university text. This is for historians of psychology, not practitioners or students.
