Phyllis Moen's Cornell research is serious, well-regarded scholarship on a genuinely important topic, and the scope — covering same-sex couples, telecommuting, and retirement — was unusually forward-looking for 2003. For policy researchers and sociologists it remains a credible reference, but the remote-work revolution has dated many of its findings, and the academic density makes it a hard sell for anyone outside that specialist lane. A library hold rather than a purchase for most readers.
