It's serious, intense material — racist rhetoric, political violence — meant for a prepared adult listener, not casual family listening. Joe Morton's narration is the standard edition, though the competing Blackstone edition with Peter Fernandez was singled out for jazz-like phrasing that suits Ellison's prose especially well.
