Series ✦ Penny’s Take
Just So Stories -Illustrated
Rudyard Kipling · 2018

👍 Worth It
Over 120 years in continuous print, and the stories still do what they were designed to do — make children laugh and beg to hear them again. Kipling's 'Best Beloved' address and the rhythmic, cumulative storytelling style are genuinely pleasurable to read aloud. Parents should be aware some passages carry colonial-era attitudes worth discussing, but this remains one of the finest read-aloud collections in the English language.
✦ Penny’s Take — this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read — not a page-by-page personal one. The gold ✓ Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
⚠ Parent note — our reviewers flagged: Some colonial-era language and racial characterizations; parental context recommended for younger readers. We still scored it 82; these are context for your family, not an automatic skip.
