Indiana University Press published this 1991 academic study of the Soviet cooperative movement during the Gorbachev era, and the Social Forces peer review confirms its scholarly credibility. It fills a genuinely underserved niche in Soviet economic history and was later made open-access, which says something about its retained reference value. But the audience is extremely narrow, and for that audience the open-access version is the natural choice over a print purchase.
