Dunkel built her academic career studying exactly this — note-taking's role in second-language listening — and it shows in a well-designed, multi-edition textbook with authentic National Geographic content. It's excellent for what it is, but it's a classroom-adopted ESL course text, not something you'd casually pick up and read.
