Gwynn's pocket anthology does what it promises: a compact, affordable entry point to literary study that doesn't sacrifice too much range in its quest for affordability. Instructors specifically praised it as a refreshing alternative to the door-stopper anthologies that dominate the market. The tradeoff is depth — fewer selections and no room for extended editorial apparatus — but for its intended undergraduate audience it delivers solid value.
