Felix Adler was a serious moral thinker, and these 1905 lectures represent a thoughtful secular humanist wrestling with real questions about divorce ethics — including acknowledging that separation can be the lesser harm in extreme cases. As a historical document it has genuine interest. As practical marriage guidance for 2024 readers, it is simply too dated and too theologically alien for most of the audience that would pick up a marriage book today.
