The Mayan archaeological backdrop gives this Fargo adventure more genuine texture than the typical Cussler thriller, and the Tracy-Hepburn couple dynamic is as enjoyable as ever. The villain is softer than the series' best entries and the plot follows a well-worn template, but if you are already a Fargo fan you will have a good time, and the Mayan codex history is genuinely interesting. A solid if unspectacular series entry.
