Gardner Dozois was one of the great curators of American science fiction and this anthology shows why — the stories here represent the genre at full creative stretch. If you want to understand what SF can actually do at novella length, this is close to essential. The gender diversity gap is real by today's standards, but the literary quality is not in question.
