Maud Churton Braby's 1908 candor about the social pressures of marriage is genuinely striking for its era, and as a primary historical source on Edwardian gender relations it has real value. But this is social history and proto-feminist commentary, not self-help, and readers coming to it for practical relationship guidance will be disappointed. The 2025 reprint is also freely available on Project Gutenberg — paying for the Anson Street Press edition is optional.
