π Worth It
A visually gorgeous and genuinely imaginative reimagining of the Saint Nicholas origin story, praised by award-winning comics creators. The Roman polytheistic framework and immortal Muse protagonist sit some distance from traditional Christmas theology, so faith-conservative readers should go in with eyes open. As volume one of an unfinished trilogy, it ends without full resolution.
β¦ Penny’s Take β this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read β not a page-by-page personal one. The gold β Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
β Parent note β our reviewers flagged: Polytheistic Roman mythology framework; pagan supernatural beings (Muses, Kobaloi) are central β may not suit faith-conservative readers expecting a Christian framing of Saint Nicholas. We still scored it 76; these are context for your family, not an automatic skip.
