Neuromancer

Neuromancer invented the word 'cyberspace' and earned the Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards — a triple crown no other novel had achieved. Gibson's vision of corporate dystopia, hacker culture, and artificial intelligence arriving before the internet went mainstream is genuinely astonishing. But the dense, fragmented prose is hard going even for experienced readers, and the book is loaded with explicit drug use, sexual content, violence, and body horror. Its cultural importance is undeniable. For this site's audience, though, the content makes it a clear pass — this belongs on a different list. Worth knowing about; not worth recommending here.
