Finance โฆ Penny’s Take
Physiocracy, Antiphysiocracy and Pfeiffer
Jรผrgen Georg Backhaus ยท 2011
74/100
๐ Worth It
Backhaus delivers the first major English-language analysis of Pfeiffer in roughly a century, and the reassessment of both Physiocrats and their critics as commonwealth-minded rather than pure profit-maximizers is a genuinely non-obvious scholarly contribution. Springer peer review and the European Heritage in Economics series give this real credibility. This is purely for historians of economic thought โ anyone outside that circle will find it impenetrable โ but within that audience it earns its place.
