Kellerman's psychological depth is the consistent strength of the Delaware series and Private Eyes delivers it well — the generational trauma threading through Melissa and her mother's story gives the mystery more emotional weight than most crime fiction. The deliberate pacing and Alex's analytical voice are not for everyone, but readers who stick with it get a genuinely nuanced portrait of how violence echoes across years. Not the best entry point for new readers of the series.
