The film-culture setting and the Alzheimer's subplot give Slow Dissolve more texture than your average cozy mystery, and Gilda Liberty is a likeable guide. But this is a third book in a series with very thin critical visibility, and there is simply not enough verifiable evidence to confidently recommend it over better-documented cozy options. Genre fans who have already enjoyed the first two books will likely enjoy this; everyone else should start elsewhere.
