So investiert die Welt

Detlef Bierbaum · 2007
95/100
👍 Worth It

Detlef Bierbaum assembled an impressive roster — leading asset managers, academics, and practitioners from Sal. Oppenheim's network — to map how the world's major pools of capital actually get deployed. The book's two-part structure works well: macro theory on globalized capital markets in part one, followed by profiles of major international institutional investors in part two. The theoretical-and-practical balance is a genuine strength rarely achieved in a single volume. The honest caveats: the German-only language of publication limits the audience considerably outside the DACH region, and post-2008 shifts in global capital markets — the financial crisis, quantitative easing, passive investing's rise — have dated the specific content substantially. German-speaking investment professionals and finance academics will still find the analytical framework useful; everyone else faces significant barriers.
