π Worth It
Catherynne Valente's Eurovision-meets-extinction-event novel is a genuinely funny, exuberantly written piece of absurdist science fiction that earned a Hugo nomination and comparisons to Hitchhiker's Guide for good reason. The plot is thin to the point of being a pretext, and the maximalist prose style will repel as many readers as it enchants β but readers who click with it really click with it.
β¦ Penny’s Take β this is The Review Group’s own editorial assessment. Penny’s analytical review line researched this book from real sources and scored it across the lenses shown below. It’s an honest first-party read β not a page-by-page personal one. The gold β Penny Tested mark is reserved for books Penny reads cover to cover herself.
β Parent note β our reviewers flagged: sexual content referenced Β· strong language likely Β· adult themes throughout. We still scored it 74; these are context for your family, not an automatic skip.
