π Worth It
Split Second is a competent commercial thriller that delivers what genre fans want: fast pacing, a charged duo, and enough twists to keep pages turning. The characterization is thin enough that Kirkus had a point, and it runs longer than it needs to, but King and Maxwell are a genuinely enjoyable team. A solid pick for thriller readers who don't demand literary depth.
