Ragsdale's textbook genuinely cracked open management science for a generation of business students by making linear programming and Monte Carlo simulation feel doable in Excel — that pedagogical achievement is real and lasting. The problem is that this is the 2004 edition, and Excel has changed substantially in the two decades since; students following its specific guidance will hit mismatches with current software. For foundational conceptual grounding it still has value, but a newer edition is the right pick for active coursework.
