As a sacred scripture and its most widely distributed English translation, the Srimad Bhagavatam is in a category of its own — scope, depth, and influence are unmatched within Vaishnava literature. Prabhupada's commentary is inseparable from his tradition, which means this is not a neutral scholarly edition, but for ISKCON practitioners and students of comparative religion it is the essential reference. The commitment is enormous (18+ volumes) but so is what it contains.
