Brenda Janowitz did real homework on Hepburn's Dutch wartime childhood and the Sabrina filming locations, and the dual-timeline structure is architecturally sound. The trouble is that the romantic chemistry—the emotional engine the story needs—reportedly doesn't ignite, and Kirkus flagged the pacing as slow. Hepburn devotees will find enough texture to enjoy it, but general women's fiction readers may finish it feeling a little shortchanged.
