The Bad Mothers' Book Club

Keris Stainton writes with genuine warmth about female friendship and the loneliness of modern motherhood, and there is real emotional payoff in those themes. The book has too much on its plate though — infidelity, cancer, sexuality, marital breakdown — and none of it gets the depth it deserves, plus the actual book club barely shows up until late. A pleasant read that punches below its own premise.
