The Battle for WondLa

The Battle for WondLa wraps up Tony DiTerlizzi's trilogy in fine form, bringing Eva Nine's journey on the alien world of Orbona to a satisfying, emotionally earned close. Themes of sacrifice, belonging, and the fragile possibility of peace between humans and aliens give the finale real weight — and the full-page illustrations throughout make it one of the most visually ambitious middle-grade adventures around. The world-building is inventive and the conclusion doesn't shy away from real consequences. That said, this book only works if you've read the first two; jumping in here is not an option. Younger readers at the low end of the age range may also find the layered politics and alien factions a lot to track. For fans who've been along for the whole ride, though, this is a worthy and moving finish.
