The Break-Up Book Club

Wendy Wax has a warm, bookish premise and four female perspectives that give the story genuine variety, and fans of the women's fiction genre will find familiar comfort here. The recurring criticism about thin characterization and a poorly resolved subplot is hard to ignore though, and when reviewers consistently note pacing problems in getting four storylines airborne the reading experience suffers. It is pleasant enough for its audience but sits in the middle of a crowded genre without doing enough to stand out.
