Series ✦ Penny’s Take
The Confession Club
Elizabeth Berg · 2019
76/100
👍 Worth It
Elizabeth Berg does something quietly difficult here — she builds genuine intimacy out of small confessions without ever reaching for shock, and the weekly supper-club structure keeps the pace gentle without becoming slack. Iris approaching 50 and Maddy sorting out her complicated return are both drawn with the kind of emotional specificity Berg is known for. If you have not read the Mason series before you can start here, but the warmth runs deeper if you know these characters already.
