π Worth It
Hannah's journey from a lost Lancaster farm to homesteading North Dakota through the Depression is the real deal - Publishers Weekly and Library Journal both singled out Linda Byler for skipping the exaggerated 'Amish accent' shtick and writing characters that actually breathe, and she's writing from inside the Amish church herself. It gets heavy in places, but it earns that weight instead of wallowing in it.
