The premise — a sympathetic GM-crops scientist caught in a bioterrorism conspiracy — was timely in 2003 and the dual-lead setup between scientist and anti-terror official creates workable dramatic tension. Two decades later the GM food debate has moved on in ways that date the novel's urgency, and the limited critical record suggests it never became more than a modest niche thriller. Hard to recommend strongly without more evidence of lasting quality.
