Meissner weaves Florence, a mysterious memoirist, and a Renaissance princess into one book, and the present-day thread carries most of the weight. The historical Nora storyline feels thinner than it should, like it got the short end of the page count. A decent atmospheric read, but the seams between timelines show more than they should.
