Penny here — Weatherford's anthropologist eye makes this a genuinely fun ride through cowrie shells, Renaissance bankers, and even a monetary read of The Wizard of Oz, and the critics agreed with me (Kirkus called it entertaining, and they're not easy graders). Victor Bevine's narration is solid and steady; just know some of the 'future of money' predictions read a bit dated now.
