Tana French does something unusual here — a detective who steps into a dead woman's identity and slowly loses her own grip on who she is — and it's atmospheric, sharp, and genuinely unsettling in the best way. Heather O'Neill's narration fits French's introspective, moody prose well, even through a slow opening stretch. One of the strongest picks in this batch, and the audio is worth the listen.
