The Little Red Hen

The McKissacks deliver a reliable, controlled-vocabulary retelling of this classic work-and-fairness fable, and it does exactly what an early-reader adaptation should. But there is almost nothing original here — it's a competent execution of a story every child already knows, with illustrations that aren't particularly distinguished. A solid classroom tool, but nothing to seek out.
